LESSONS AND CLINICS
We are currently booking private lessons, group lessons and clinics at our farm as well as a variety of other local farms that I teach at regularly. Contact me to check if I am offering teaching services some place close to you.
The majority of the lessons I offer are private lessons. This is due to the fact that the private lesson format allows me to really focus on the rider-horse combination and their individual needs. I also offer pairs and group lessons which can also provide their own unique learning possibilities.
My goal is to customize your lessons to your wishes and needs.
I also offer theory lessons such as lectures and presentations on a variety of horsemanship topics. You can book this type of theory session in addition to a weekend clinic or just as a single event.
TRAINING
I offer a variety of training options including tölt-training/gait-training, riding horse training, competitive training, training for breeding assessments, and starting of young horses.
I believe good basic training is the foundation upon which all further training is developed. Thereby, I value building a horse’s training up correctly and systematically from the beginning.
When in training I work with the horses 5 times per week. I make sure that training is varied between sessions. That means including a variety of training modalities such as groundwork, work on the longe, riding inside the arena, and outside in nature.
It is important to me that each horse is trained at their own pace to preserve and develop their mental and physical strength. The goal is to build up a horse which is positive, happy, strong, balanced, supple, and eager to work. I believe that is the foundation of training a healthy and long lasting horse.
Upon the conclusion of the training period I will show the horse to the owner when they come to pick it up. If the owner plans on continuing the training themselves I include a lesson on the horse upon the completion of the training to facilitate a successful transition for both horse and rider.
BREEDING ASSESSMENTS
I offer training and presenting of horses in breeding assessments. Whether I show the horse, is at the discretion of my professional opinion. For me it is of the utmost importance that the horse be mentally and physically prepared for the assessment. There may be situations where the horse is ready for conformation assessment but not ridden assessment.
In Iceland I presented a number of horses in breeding shows and a large percentage of them made it to first prize. Pictured here, for example, is the 4 year old mare I presented to first prize as a 4 gaiter. She also qualified for the breeding shows at Landsmót that year.
